Ingredients
For the Base:
2cupsdosa batterfermented
Salt to taste
A few tsp oil or ghee for cooking
Toppings (can be customized):
1medium onionfinely chopped
1medium tomatofinely chopped
1small capsicumfinely chopped
2green chiliesfinely chopped (optional)
2tbspfresh coriander leaveschopped
A pinch of black pepper or red chili flakes
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Toppings
Mix chopped onion, tomato, capsicum, green chilies, and coriander in a bowl.
Add a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Uthappa
Heat a non-stick or cast-iron tawa (griddle) and lightly grease with oil.
Pour a ladleful of dosa batter in the center and gently spread it into a thick circle (don’t spread too thin).
Quickly sprinkle the prepared vegetable topping evenly over the surface.
Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges and on top of the vegetables.
Step 3: Cook and Flip
Cover and cook on medium flame for 2–3 minutes until the base is golden brown.
Gently flip and cook the other side for another 1–2 minutes (optional if you like it crispier).
Repeat the process for remaining batter.
🍽️ Serving Suggestions
Serve hot with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, or sambar.
You can also enjoy it with butter or spicy gunpowder (milagai podi).
