Ingredients
For Kofta (Dumplings):
- 200 g paneer grated
- 1 medium boiled potato mashed
- 2 tbsp cornflour or besan gram flour
- Β½ tsp garam masala
- 1 green chili finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep or shallow frying
- Optional: Chopped dry fruits raisins, cashews to stuff inside koftas
For the Gravy:
- 2 medium tomatoes pureed
- 1 large onion finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 10 β12 cashews soaked and ground to paste
- Β½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- Β½ tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp fresh cream
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Koftas
- Mix paneer, mashed potato, green chili, cornflour, salt, and garam masala.
- Make small round balls. You can stuff each with a raisin or chopped cashew for extra taste.
- Deep fry or shallow fry on medium heat until golden brown. Set aside on paper towels.
Step 2: Prepare the Gravy
- Heat oil or butter in a pan.
- Add chopped onion and sautΓ© until golden.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sautΓ© for 1 minute.
- Add tomato puree and cook till oil separates.
- Add turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
- Stir in cashew paste and cook for 2β3 minutes.
- Add Β½ cup water to adjust consistency. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add cream and garam masala. Stir well.
Step 3: Assemble and Serve
- Just before serving, place koftas in a bowl and pour hot gravy over them.
- Garnish with fresh cream and chopped coriander.
